Key Responsibilities

Working as a Carpenter, you will be responsible for the following:

Carpentry & Construction

Read Blueprints: Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, sketches, and specifications to determine construction requirements.

Prepare Layouts: Prepare construction layouts according to building codes using measuring tools.

Measure and Cut Materials: Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other construction materials.

Build Structures: Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and construct walls and roof systems.

Install Fixtures: Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, hardware, and other building components.

Renovation Work: Maintain, repair, and renovate residences and wooden structures in residential, commercial, industrial, and other establishments.

Planning & Project Coordination

Estimate Costs: Prepare estimates for labour, materials, and overall project costs.

Prepare Quotations: Prepare tenders and quotations for construction and renovation work.

Coordinate Work: Schedule and coordinate construction activities at various work sites.

Survey Locations: Survey building locations and levels to ensure construction work is completed accurately.

Computer Software: Operate CADD and other computer software systems when required.

Supervision & Training

Instruct Apprentices: Provide guidance and instruction to apprentices working on construction projects.

Supervise Workers: Supervise other workers and help coordinate tasks at construction sites.

Qualifications
