Key Responsibilities

As a Landscape Worker, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with landscape construction projects
  • Cutting and maintaining grass areas
  • Weeding, pruning, and trimming trees and shrubs
  • Raking grounds and collecting debris
  • Removing litter and garbage
  • Transporting and spreading topsoil and other materials
  • Laying sod or seeding turf areas
  • Applying fertilizers
  • Watering and maintaining lawns, plants, and gardens
  • Operating and maintaining landscaping equipment
  • Repairing and servicing tools and machinery

Qualifications

Education:

Secondary (high) school graduation certificate required.

Experience:

3 years to less than 5 years of related landscaping experience.

Certificates:

First Aid Certificate required.

Security Requirements:

  • Criminal record check
  • Driving record check (abstract)

Equipment Experience

Applicants should have experience operating:

  • Chain saw
  • Front-end loader
  • Pick-up truck
  • Small engine equipment
  • Sod cutter
  • Sprayer or duster
  • Tractor
  • Tractor mower
  • Weed trimmer/edger

Work Environment

The Landscape Worker will work in:

  • Outdoor environment
  • Golf course setting
  • Fast-paced and physically demanding conditions

Work conditions may include working under pressure, tight deadlines, repetitive tasks, heavy lifting, and extended periods of walking, bending, crouching, and kneeling. A valid driver’s licence is required.
