Key Responsibilities of a Carpenter

As a Carpenter at Westvan Drywall Ltd., you’ll play an important role in shaping and maintaining structures that reflect quality, strength, and skill. Your day-to-day duties will include:

  • Preparing layouts and ensuring compliance with building codes using measuring tools
  • Measuring, cutting, shaping, assembling, and joining wood, lightweight steel, and other materials
  • Building foundations, installing floor beams, laying subflooring, and erecting walls and roofing systems
  • Fitting and installing windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware
  • Repairing, maintaining, and renovating residential and commercial wooden structures
  • Supervising 1 to 2 workers when required
  • Ensuring safety, accuracy, and workmanship on every project

Job Requirements for Carpenter Role

To qualify for this position, candidates should meet the following criteria:

Education

  • Other trades certificate or diploma
  • Or equivalent work experience

Experience

  • 7 months to less than 1 year of relevant carpentry experience

Language

  • Fluent in spoken and written English

Skills & Capabilities

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications
  • Proficiency with carpentry tools and materials
  • Strong problem-solving and teamwork skills
  • Physically fit to handle the demands of the job
