Key Responsibilities of a Live-in Caregiver – Seniors

As a Live-in Caregiver, you will play a vital role in providing care, comfort, and companionship to an elderly client. Your daily duties may include:

  • Administering bedside and personal care
  • Assisting with bathing, grooming, and hygiene
  • Supporting clients in water therapy (pool sessions)
  • Helping clients with regular exercise, such as walks
  • Preparing and serving nutritious meals
  • Planning therapeutic diets and menus
  • Feeding or assisting in feeding
  • Laundering clothing and household linens

Job Requirements for Live-in Caregiver Role

To qualify for this position, you must meet the following criteria:

Education

  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience

Experience

  • 1 to less than 7 months of relevant caregiving experience
  • Previous experience working with elderly clients preferred

Language

  • English (required)
  • Vietnamese (asset)

Work Environment

  • Non-smoking household
  • On-site position — work must be performed at the employer’s home
  • Willingness to relocate as needed

  • Criminal record check required prior to appointment
